Fight the beverage bulge

Studies show that Americans now get nearly twice as many calories from beverages as they did in the 1960s. Rowan Literacy Council tutor training session to be held

The Rowan County Literacy Council will hold a tutor training workshop in the Stanback Room of the Rowan Public Library. Orientation will be held this Thursday, May 29, from 7-9 p.m. to explain the role of the volunteer tutor in helping adults to read or learn English as a second language. At the end of the orientation, participants will be able to sign up for the next three sessions to be held June 2 and 5 from 5:30-9 p.m. and June 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration for these three sessions...

Community groups invited to apply for Park Improvement Grants

Community groups and school organizations that are interested in improving or adding to recreation facilities are encouraged to apply for the Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Department Matching Incentive Grant Program. Applications will be accepted through June 18. The matching incentive grant program allows non-profit community groups to assist in providing recreation facilities in their local communities.
