CONCORD — Amateur photographer Justin Leedy was at the right place at the right time Thursday night.
The Harrisburg resident captured on camera a motorcyle accident near Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Luckily, Leedy said, the crash victim wasn’t seriously injured.
Around 8 p.m. Thursday, Leedy and his wife were in a parking lot off Morehead Road, near U.S. 29.
“My wife and I were just kind of goofing around, taking some pictures,” he said.
That’s when he heard a motorcyle approaching. “It basically just sounded like (the driver) cranked it wide open,” Leedy said. He didn’t know the motorcyle driver’s name.
Fugitives on drug charges turn themselves in
July 29, 2008
On Friday, the Kannapolis Police Department asked the public’s help in finding two fugitives wanted in separate drug cases.
Kannapolis Police Sgt. G. Bryan Ritchie released the names of Anthony Joseph Bologna, 27, and Ronald Lee Bowlin, 19, on Friday afternoon, asking the public to call Cabarrus Area Crime Stoppers with the men’s location.
By Monday, both men were in jail, Ritchie said. They turned themselves in over the weekend, possibly after reading their names in local media, Ritchie said.
Ritchie said Crime Stoppers hadn’t received any calls by the time the men were behind bars.
The Police Department said Bologna, who’s last known address was 1397 Debbie St., is charged with felony possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He remains in the Cabarrus County Jail.
On May 4, Bologna was charged with driving while impaired, with a revoked license and left of center and riding with an open container of alcohol. He posted a $1,000 bond and was released the same day, according to the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office Web site.
Bowlin, whose last known address was 813 Klondale Ave., is charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Bowlin faced numerous charges in 2005 and 2006 of breaking and entering, larceny and violating probation.
Cabarrus Area Crime Stoppers’ number is 704-93-CRIME (932-7463).
