Kannapolis police investigators say a man targeted two drivers for TJ’s Taxi for robbery last month.
The first incident occurred Oct. 13, when TJ’s driver Derrick Upright picked up a fare in the area of Little Texas Road around 11:20 p.m. As they reached the fare’s destination, the suspect placed a weapon to Upright’s head and demanded money.
The driver handed over an unspecified amount of money, and the suspect ran from the taxi.
Three days later, TJ’s driver Roger Knotts, 51, responded to a customer’s request to be picked up in the area of Pine Street. The fare sat in the back seat behind the driver. Again, he placed a weapon to the driver’s head and demanded money. The driver complied, and the suspect ran from the taxi.

Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office
Get out of my car!
The 33-year-old Harrisburg man only thought about stopping the guy from stealing his car. He wasn’t prepared for the gun.
The man told Cabarrus Sheriff’s Deputy Joyner he had parked his 1999 Mercury in the lot at the Harrisburg Circle K.
About 1:30 a.m. Oct. 24, the car owner saw a man trying to take his Mercury. When he confronted the man, who was still in the car, the suspect pointed a “small caliber handgun” at the owner. The man then got out of the car and drove away in a mid ’90s model, black, Acura Legend, according to Joyner’s summary of the incident.
The Post is not identifying the car owner because the suspect has not been arrested.
