KANNAPOLIS — Vernon Lee Johnson III, 49, 1403 Sherwood Drive, died Oct. 27, 2008, at his home.
He was born June 25, 1959, in Cabarrus County to Carolyn Earnhardt Johnson of Kannapolis and the late Vernon Lee Johnson Jr. He was an electrician.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include sister Debbie J. Hopkins, Concord; son Jason McKendree, Columbus, Ga.; two grandchildren, and their grandmother, Gwen Johnson; and a good friend, Renee McCraven.
Services were Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008, at Whitley’s Funeral Home, conducted by Dr. Forbis Kivett. Burial, West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove.

CONCORD — Michael “Mike” Anthony Kelly, 50, Rockwell, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, at CMC- NorthEast.
Born April 27, 1958, he was the son of James C. Kelly of Rockwell and the late Dorothy Kelly. He was a member of Rockwell Church of God and served in the Army National Guard.
In addition to his father, survivors include wife Brenda Burris Kelly, Rockwell; and brothers Alvin Kelly and Kenny Kelly, both of South Carolina.
A service was held Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008, at Wilkinson Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Duane Holt.

Donald Harris

CONCORD — Donald Norris Harris, 61, 1221 Sprucewood Place, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, at CMC-NorthEast.
Born May 25, 1947, he was a son of Charles Norris Harris and the late Mary Alice Surratt Harris. He was a member of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church and was retired from IBM-Austin. He had also worked for Flex Tronics as a quality engineer.
He was preceded in death by a grandchild.
In addition to his father, survivors include his wife, Carol Votipka Harris; daughters Monica Dukette, North Port, Fla., Kari Harris, Concord; sons Tom Harris, Austin, Texas, and Chris Harris, Concord; brothers Joe Harris, Tempe, Ariz., and Ken Harris, Huntsville, Ala.; and two grandchildren.
A service will be held at 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, at Wilkinson Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Fred Pinkston. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m.

CONCORD — Vivian E. Jackson Maxwell, 43, 16 Barber St., died Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County.
Born Feb. 15, 1965, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lester and Adlee Deese Jackson. She was a graduate of Northwest Cabarrus High School.
Survivors include brothers Robert L. Jackson, Monroe, Bernard Jackson, Concord, and William L. Jackson, Temecula, Calif.; sisters Joanne Jackson Carr, Concord, and Shirley M. Aiken, Seattle.
A service was held Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, at New Birth Christian Center, conducted by the Rev. Johnny M. Johnson. Interment, Rutherford Memorial Cemetery.

CONCORD — Dorothy Ramsey Cude Hill, 84, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, at Transitional Healthcare Services.
Born March 17, 1924, she was the daughter of the late A.P. and Estelle Skipper Ramsey.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Howard Cude, and her second husband, Robert William Hill.
Survivors include sons Steve Cude, Concord, the Rev. Thomas Edwin Cude and William Wesley Cude, both of El Campo, Texas, and Michael Robert Hill, Dayton, Texas; sisters Margaret Lawing, Jean Stewart and Ann Bowers, all of Charlotte; brother Carl Ramsey, Charlotte; 14 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
A service was held Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008, at Wilkinson Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Michael Lawing. Burial will be in Palacios, Texas.

KANNAPOLIS — Tony Ray Caudle, 59, 110 Psalms St., died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, at his home.
Born Dec. 22, 1948, he was the son of the late James and Pearl Luden Caudle. He was a Vietnam War veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a member of Cabarrus County DAV. He owned Tony R. Caudle Painting and was a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include Diann Alsbrooks Caudle of the home; son Brandon Allison, stepdaughter Nikkaris Surratt and stepson Orlando Lawson, all of Kannapolis; and three step-grandchildren.
A service was held Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at Whitley’s Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Harry Gaston. Interment, National Cemetery in Salisbury.

Survivors include her husband, James “Cameron” Glenn; daughter Stacey Renee Perry, Bridgetown, Nova Scotia; son John Glenn, Huntersville; sisters Betty Harvey, Minnesota, Carol Wallace, Michigan, and Brenda Howard, Alabama; brothers Robert “Bob” Patterson, Michigan and David Patterson, California; and two grandchildren.

Born June 29, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Walter Monroe and Annie Gaskey Eudy. She graduated from Winecoff High School and attended Highland Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include husband Joe. M. Munson; son Joe M. Munson Jr., Midland; daughter Sherry M. Dixon, Concord; brother Harold Eudy, Kannapolis; sister Margaret Trull, Concord; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

RICHFIELD — Harold Ray Nowlin, 70, formerly of Milford, Conn., died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008, at his home.
Born March 28, 1938, in Columbia, Mo., he was the son of the late John H. and Lovenia Sims Nowlin. He was a construction contractor and retired as owner and operator of Jones Motor Freight. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and of Bethel United Church of Christ.
Survivors include wife Linda Santora Nowlin; daughter Yvonne Mary Frances Stull, Columbia, Mo.; sons Timothy Ray Nowlin, Hallsville, Mo., Gregory Joseph Nowlin, Milford, Conn., Colin Thomas, Paul Cary and John Clinton Nowlin, all of Concord; sisters Linda Morris and Kay Jackson, both of Missouri, and Norma Johnson, Burnsville; brother Johnny Nowlin, Missouri; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Born Dec. 25, 1943, he was the son of Clinton Patterson and the late Mary Louise Saddler. He attended Logan High School and was employed for many years by Pillowtex Plant No. 1.
In addition to his father, survivors include sons James Clinton Patterson Jr., Edgefield, S.C., and Marcus Patterson, Charlotte; daughters Marissa Patterson, Concord; sisters Carolyn Abraham, Hyattsville, Md., and Judy Woodberry, Kannapolis; and nine grandchildren.
