Two earn top KPD honors

The Kannapolis Police Department recognized two members of the department during its annual awards program last Monday. Timed to occur during National Police Week, the awards honor a civilian employee and a sworn officer. The Roger Dale Carter Memorial Service Award, given in memory of Carter — who was killed in the line of duty in 1993 — was presented this year to Daniel Wallace. The award is bestowed upon a police officer who has “an exceptional reputation for personal honesty and integrity.”...

Harrisburg Public Works Director Todd Taylor said someone driving by the tower Friday afternoon noticed water leaking from it and called town officials. Rodney Glenn Lowder, 36, was charged April 12 with setting fire to a house he owns at 9201 Oakridge Drive, Kannapolis, according to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office. More than 50 charges — Two Kannapolis men face 11 charges in Kannapolis

After Rowan County sheriff’s deputies accused two Kannapolis men of a number of break-ins in Rowan, Kannapolis police also opened their own investigation. Detective David Miller said the men face more than 50 charges altogether — 30 by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, 16 to 17 by the Cabarrus Sheriff’s Office and 11 from Kannapolis. Two good Samaritans robbed of cash, cell phones

China Grove meth lab bust tied to March raid in Kannapolis

Staff report CHINA GROVE — Local, state and federal investigators raided a China Grove home Tuesday and seized “components of a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory,” according to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday’s seizure at 476 Emma Road is related to a March 19 raid of a meth lab at 1924 Troutman Hill Road in Kannapolis.
