Man faces another charge, higher bond in sex case

Kannapolis police investigators have added at least one more charge against a Kannapolis man already accused of multiple sex offenses against two girls, ages 10 and 11. According to a Police Department arrest log, Billy Joe Tysinger, who celebrated his 37th birthday in jail this week, was charged with another sex-related crime, and a magistrate increased his bond $25,000, to $275,000. A Kannapolis man is being held under $100,000 bond in the Cabarrus County Jail after being charged with two break-ins and two drug offenses. Kannapolis police officers arrested Roger Dale Connell, 20, 802 Rogers Lake Road, on Oct. 6. Cannon Family Medicine, owner guilty of fraud

Staff report A Kannapolis health-care practice and its president, a physician assistant, pleaded guilty in federal court Wednesday to health care fraud, the U.S. Attorney’s office announced. Cannon Family Medicine and Christopher J. Caggiano pleaded guilty to four counts of health-care fraud, according to a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice. Staff report A fire at a group home last week is still under investigation and no arrests have been made. According to the Kannapolis Fire Department, the fire started in the room of a juvenile at the home, but the youth is not a suspect in the case yet. Kannapolis Fire Department responds to two structural fires in one evening

On Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 4:07 p.m., the Kannapolis Fire Department was called to 905-A Haley St. for a working structure fire. Police have added two charges of first-degree rape against a  Kannapolis man accused of sexual misconduct with a 12-year-old girl. On Thursday, police also charged David Avila Garcia, 22, of 704 Baron Ridge Road, with one count of taking indecent liberties with a minor.
