Medication technician accused of stealing patient prescriptions
By Frank DeLoacheKannapolis CitizenA medication technician at China Grove Retirement Center has been charged with multiple counts of stealing medicine from patients at the center.Rowan County sheriff’s detectives have charged Latesha Daniels, 33, of 540 Hannah Ferry Road, with three counts of level III trafficking in opium, 10 counts of level II trafficking in opium and 13 counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud, misrepresentation, deception and subterfuge, according to Sheriff’s Capt. John Sifford.Daniels worked as a medication technician at the retirement facility at 1114 S. Main St., China Grove.“Once the medications had been delivered to the China Grove Retirement Center, … Daniels took them,” Sifford said.Central Carolina Pharmacy delivered medication to the retirement center, but Sifford said Daniels “never took any medication directly from the Central Carolina Pharmacy” nor was she associated with the pharmacy in any way, Sifford said.Sifford said Daniels has posted a $70,000 bond and been released from the Rowan County Detention Center.Arrests• Dustin Moore, 20, 2110 Woodlawn St.;
