• The Cabarrus County Democratic Women will hold its monthly meeting this Thursday, May 22, at 6:30 p.m. at the Stowe-Away Restaurant, 455 Corban Ave., Concord.
Guest speaker will be Joyce Berry-Biles, director of Crisis Counseling at Cooperative Christian Ministry.

• Ike’s Construction and Kannapolis Parks and Recreation Department, in conjunction with Time Warner Cable, shows the DreamWorks hit, “Bee Movie” (rated PG), as its first outdoor movie in the 2008 Summer Events series on the big screen. Radio Disney will offer games, music and fun prior to the movie.
Radio Disney Games and Music begins at 6:30 p.m. with the feature attraction beginning at sundown, approximately 8:45 p.m. at Village Park Amphitheatre.
Admission is free.
