Another Concord teen charged with causing fatality

September 30, 2008

CONCORD — The Concord Police Department is reporting another person dead at the hands of a negligent teenage driver. Martha Holsclaw Moose, 75, of 1330 Bennington Drive, Concord, died when a Jeep ran a stop sign Wednesday and collided with car in which Moose was a passenger, the Police Department said today. The teen driving the Jeep, Steven Louis Robbins, 17, of 4176 Peyton Court N.W., has been charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle, police said. In July, a teenage driver lost control of his speeding car on Zion Church Road near Litaker Lane. Darius Agnew, 16, was driving, and the impact threw his brother, Brandon, 17, from the car, killing the older teen. Concord police charged Darius Agnew with misdemeanor death by vehicle on July 30 and he pleaded guilty the next day. An unidentified District Court Judge gave Darius Agnew 18 months probation and dismissed a charge that Agnew was driving with a revoked license. In this week’s accident, Concord Traffic Safety Unit officers responded to a collision between two vehicles about 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Northlite Shopping Center at Spider and Supercenter drives. Witnesses said the 2008 Jeep “ran the stop sign and caused the crash,” police reported in a press release today. Robbins had a front seat passenger, Jeffery Allen Solomon, also 17, of 220 Blackberry Trail, Concord. Pamela Moose Wadford, 54, also of 1330 Bennington Drive, Concord, was driving her 2003 Toyota when the Jeep slammed into her side of the Toyota. Martha Moose was a front-seat passenger in Wadford’s car. Both women were taken Carolinas Medical Center–NorthEast where Martha Moose died. A member of the Police Traffic Safety Unit charged Steven Robbins Thursday afternoon. He is scheduled to appear in Cabarrus County District Court Oct. 29.
