Donald M. Moore

CHINA GROVE — Donald Monroe Moore, 86, formerly of 1550 Old Beatty Ford Road, died Oct. 10, 2008, at the N.C. State Veterans Home, Salisbury. He was born Nov. 19, 1921, in Mecklenburg County to the late Charles Monroe and  Grace Stillwell Moore.  He had worked for the town of Landis and Cannon Mills Co. Plant 4 before retiring. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, aboard the USS Intrepid. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. His wife, Roxie Mae Simms Moore, died in 1996.  He is survived by sons Tony M., Donald Marshall  and Dean M. Moore; daughter Beverly M. Hancock; brother Charles David Moore;  11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Services were Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Kannapolis. Burial,  Carolina Memorial Park with military rites by Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard.   Whitley’s Funeral Home was in charge.
