Joyce C. Russell

KANNAPOLIS — Joyce Clontz Russell, 89, formerly of Evelyn Avenue, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008, at Hospice House.  Mrs. Russell was born May 13, 1919, in Union County, a daughter of the late Baxter  and Ollie Jane Helms Clontz. Russell retired several years ago from Cannon Mills. She was a member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church.  Her husband, Horace C. Russell, died Feb. 8, 2002.  Survivors include daughter Joan Russell Earle, China Grove;  son H. Douglas Russell, Kannapolis; sisters Edith Austin, Concord, Chattie Wilson, Kannapolis, Jerry Hasty, Monroe; brother Bridger Clontz, Monroe; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.  Services were Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008, at Lady’s Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Jim Grigg. Interment at Carolina Memorial Park.  Memorials: Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
