Alberta A. Polk

CONCORD — Alberta Aiken Polk, 90, of Memphis, and formerly of Concord, died Sunday, March 23, 2008.
Born Feb. 9, 1918, in Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of the late Malcolm M. and Lula Moore Aiken. She was a graduate of Wingate College and retired from Collins and Aikman. She was a lifelong member of McGill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William James Polk.
Survivors include son James Stanton Polk, Memphis, Tenn.; sister Yvonne A. Spencer, Concord; brother Arnold E. Aiken, Garner; one granddaughter; and two step-grandchildren.
A service was held Thursday, March 27, 2008, at McGill Avenue Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Steve Ayers. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.
Memorials: McGill Baptist Church, 5300 Poplar Tent Road, Concord, NC 28027 to either the “Building Fund” or to the “Polk-Aiken Scholarship Fund” at the church.
Wilkinson Funeral Home is in charge.
