Grace D. Ballard

Grace Diggs Litaker Ballard, 89, 505 Hazel Ave., Kannapolis, died at her home Saturday, March 29, 2008.
Born June 29, 1918, in Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Mattie Sides Diggs. She retired from Cannon Mills Plant 1 set and sheets department after 35 years. She had also worked at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital as a supervisor in the dietary department, and had owned and operated Happy Day Nursery in Kannapolis from 1964 until 1970. She was a member of McGill Baptist Church in Concord.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Palmer Richard Ballard, in 1991.
Survivors include her son Finnie Ballard of Kannapolis; and daughter, Alice Greene of Concord.
A graveside service was held Monday, March 31, 2008, at Carolina Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Steve Ayers.
Whitley’s Funeral Home is in charge.
